Grant Harris: Lead Guitarist, Mandolin, Banjo,Vocals.
Grant discovered guitars after he knocked one from a shelf in Target at the age of 10 and he subsequently pestered his parents to buy one for him. They preferred that he learn the piano but it wasn’t the type of instrument that you could just carry around with you and take out at parties and pretend to be all sensitive and caring so he taught himself to play at lunch-times and joined the guitar club at school.
It wasn’t long before he was spotted by the musical director at MacGregor High who suggested that he join the school’s big-band and so began a life-long love of swing and jazz and comping like Freddie Green.
He formed a trio at age 14 and began playing restaurants around Brisbane before embarking on a tour with then-prominent covers band Honest Crime.
In his 20s, Grant continued to play covers but also explored his real love of jazz forming a quartet which played regularly in Adelaide.
Following a move to Sydney in his late 20s, Grant joined a big-band and played regularly around Sydney but took a break from the covers scene for a number of years.
In Perth he spent 3.5 years with the Metro Big Band’s rhythm section; has collaborated with singer/song-writer Rochelle O’Reilly as lead guitarist of her Feelgoods quartet; and is currently part of the line-up of Perth’s premier Ska band Little Pedro.
Shaydze of Grey is an opportunity for Grant to explore new musical horizons and create some great county/rock grooves.
Grant is also the fill in Lead Guitarist for INXS TRIBUTE Perth
